is Professor of Philosophy in the School of Social Science at the Shanghai University. She received a PhD in Women’s Studies at the University of Manchester, UK. Her research interests are the areas of globalization, the cross cultural studies and feminist philosophy. She is the author of International Women's Movements 1789-1989, (Zhengzhou, Henan Peoples Publishing House, 1991). Her recent publications include: “A Travelling Concept: Translation of Gender in North and East Europe and South America”, Zhe Jiang Academic Journal, 1, 2005, pp. 209-214, and “Awakening again: Travelling Feminism in China in the 1980s”, in Women’s Studies International Forum, 28, 4, 2005, pp.259-356.  She is currently writing a book on traveling feminism, translation and in betweens.

Dongchao was a Rockefeller Fellow in the Women’s Studies Program at University of Hawaii in fall, 2003.
